It is interesting that everyone wishes to grow up and buy a home, and own a piece of property.Indeed, I understand the need to call somewhere home, and I understand why people do this as well.I cannot say I have not been involved in the same pursuits myself, and much like most Americans, I do find that it is important.However, don't you think it is a bit arrogant, philosophically speaking of course, for a human being to say that they own a piece of land? Okay so, let's talk about this for second shall we?The Earth has been around for 5.5 billion years, and it is expected that it will be around for at least 4.5 billion years more, and humans only live approximately less than 100 years.Even long-standing families that own property, property that has been in their families for generations, even so, how many years are we really talking about; 500, 600, 700, or maybe perhaps 1000, although that's doubtful? The reality is that humans don't own the land, they don't own the Earth, it's been here before humans ever existed, and it will be here long after they are gone, or have evolved into something else.Are you beginning to see my point here?Many ancient cultures didn't have the concept of land ownership at all, although we know that up right walking primates, including the human animal, have always been somewhat territorial.Could it be that humans are operating under their old instincts, and reptilian brain format even in our modern day society? The more land which is owned by an individual seems to elevate their status in society.Not just in the United States, but everywhere, which could support my theory in bringing up that last statement.In kingdoms the King or Royal family was considered to own all the land, and they granted various land rights to those who were most obedient to them.In ancient Japanese society the warlords would share the land with the Warriors for their obedience and service.In a few countries it is assumed that the government, or the leadership still owns all the land, but I ask; if you own all the land by birthright supposedly, or purchase the land with a unit of trade that you have earned through your labors or gifted from previous generations - do you still actually own that land?Because when it comes right down to it your limited lifespan would indicate that you are only renting, or borrowing that land, and that in reality you don't know Jack, and therefore "Jack" maybe you need to think outside the box for a moment, and consider this argument from a philosophical standpoint, and consider how radically arrogant the concept of land ownership really is.Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
